Savour local and western favourites. This is the ONLY place serving Lunch and Dinner PENANG BUFFET popular since 1970. From a team of Penang chefs, lunch is from 1 1.3Oam to 2.3Opm and dinner from 6.3Opm to 10pm daily. On Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday, lunch is extended to 3.3Opm. More than 20 tasty items in the daily line up. Nine assertive appetisers kick off the meal, among which may be a very good vegetable achar, the spicy kerabu beehoon studded with prawns, nasi ulam - a rich salad aromatic with herbs including lemon grass, daun kadok and limau purut leaves; and chae hu, an ensemble of crispy fritters, prawn roll, cuttlefish, jellyfish, cucumber and beancurd served with a slightly spicy dressing of sweet potato, plum sauce and chilli. Eight main courses with interchangeable menus every week include items such as fried kway teow, nasi lemak, steamed red snapper otak and chicken satay, etc. There are four side dishes of rojak, mouth watering kueh pie tee/popiah, hokkien hae mee soup and Penang laksa. Desserts come in hot, cold and an array of nonya kuehs. Try homemade beancurd, kept warm in charming old fashioned tub, sweetened with clear syrup or gula melaka. One of the popular dishes found in the ala carte menu is Lobster Salad Boat which is shellfish on a colorful bed of fresh fruits served on a miniature wooden junk with a skillfully rolled out carrot sail. This is also the only place in a hotel restaurant that serves the veritable 'charcoal' deluxe steamboat which comes in a fat brass pot from the core of which issues the fragrance of burning charcoal. Dim sum is available for lunch. There are 6 private dining rooms in Tien Court, three of which can be opened up to accommodate four tables for a small private party.
